What is the Let’s End Poverty movement?
Let’s End Poverty is a diverse, growing movement of people who are united behind a vision of the UK where poverty can’t keep anyone down. Supported by over 50 churches, charities, trade unions and community groups and made up of over 630 movement builders across the UK, we’re coming together to make sure that in this General Election year, tackling poverty is a top priority on the agenda of all our political leaders.
With 1 in 5 people in the UK experiencing poverty, they are encouraging urgent action to take place in order to turn the tide on this issue through empowering better conversations from the kitchen table to the cabinet table.
So how can you get involved?
- Start community conversations – they want people to begin discussing why it is a priority for the government to tackle the issue of poverty in the UK.
- Put pressure on your local candidates at the next General Election to address the issue of poverty in the UK.
- Show support – spread the message at your local church events, put up posters bringing others attention to the issue etc. Important resources to do this can be downloaded from the Let’s End Poverty website; LetsEndPoverty.co.uk
What should you do next?
- Sign up – this can be done individually or as a congregation!
- Take action – right to your local MP, attend events, put up posters, share their message etc.
