Celebrating the Ordination and Induction of Revd Maurice Omorojie

We were delighted to hold the Ordination and Induction of Maurice at St Andrew’s Cheam on Saturday the 20th September.  Maurice finished his studies at Northern College this summer after a four year course.  In January this year Maurice accepted the call from St Andrews to join the church to fill a 25% ministerial vacancy, and for the time being he will  spend the remaining 75% of his time working as directed by the South London Synod Area.

It was wonderful occasion and we were joined at the Ordination by many of Maurice’s friends and family on this important day.  As well as family, these included a contingent from Maurice’s home church – West Thamesmead Community Church, a group from Christ Church Petts Wood where Maurice had spent time on placement, and fellow students from Northern College.  Representatives from Synod and local churches were also present to extend the right hand of fellowship to Maurice on this special day.

The Revd Russell Furley-Smith presided at the service and Maurice was introduced for ordination by Revd Craig Bowman, minister of St Andrews.  The sermon was given by one of Maurice’s tutors from Northern College, Revd Dr Noel Irwin, who had made the journey from Manchester to be at the service.

Maurice will lead worship at St Andrews Cheam on one Sunday a month and the congregation were delighted that he led the service there on the 21st September, immediately following his Ordination.

We are pleased to welcome Maurice, his wife Juliana and their children into our church family at St Andrew’s; we know the Lord will guide us all as we work together to grow the Kingdom.
