As part of the Synod Strategy 2024-7 a review of Synod Structure is being conducted to explore whether the current arrangements remain fit for purpose.
A paper was presented to Synod Together on 18th October 2025 and this webpage will be kept up to date as the project progresses.
Here’s the paper ST 25-10-18 PAPER B – Synod Structure Review October 2025
The project team comprises Revd Martin Hayward (Synod Clerk), Revd Keith Morrison and Sue Eardley (Secretary to Synod Ministries Committee)
Aims
The group has agreed the following aims:-
To recommend changes, where they are needed, to the structures of the Synod to enable the local church to flourish and thrive. (Thriving is referenced to the Synod local church mission criteria, particularly the first three).
The fundamental questions are:
1) do our structures enable or hinder ‘Re-new, Re-imagine and Re-order?’
2) what changes do we need to make to enhance these aspirations?
Interviews are being held with staff and officers during November and committees and convenors in November/December.
Team members are keen to visit committees and groups to discuss their views and ideas and are contacting convenors and chairs to arrange this.
