We have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of the Synod’s new Safeguarding Officer, Natalie Van Camp.
Safeguarding has been a growing and developing ministry for all churches, organisations and companies. We are grateful for the memorandum of understanding with Thames North Synod that provided Safeguarding support for Southern Synod by their own Safeguarding Officer, Belinda Herbert, over many years. Many of you have been supported by Belinda and I know she will be missed and we thank her for her ministry.
As Safeguarding develops the Synod Trust and Synod Council took the view it was time for us to seek our own Safeguarding Officer. Natalie introduces herself below but some of you will have met her already and appreciated her expertise. She comes highly recommended and was an outstanding candidate for interview. We look forward to Natalie joining the team in October.

I am Natalie Van Camp your newly appointed SSO for Southern. Whilst some of you may already have met or worked with me, I am not new to the position of SSO however, I am new being an SSO for Southern Synod area only.
I am very much looking forward to working with you all and hearing more from you and your churches so that we can create an even stronger safeguarding culture together.
Spanning over 20 years I have a strong working professional background in safeguarding. From working in frontline safeguarding systems within children’s social care, children, and youth advocacy, to leading safeguarding and wellbeing in schools.
I have a long-standing core passion for supporting those in need and I welcome this new opportunity within the Southern Synod.
