Just before Christmas I visited Trinity United Reformed Church, Wimbledon to see their Christmas tree festival. The church was lit with coloured lights and lined with 39 Christmas trees each one decorated by different church and community groups. For the children (or the young at heart!) there was a treasure hunt as well as an opportunity to vote for the best tree. My personal favourite was the badminton group’s tree that had used shuttlecocks as angels but the overall winner was ‘The Tree Kings’ tree which had been decorated by the Choir. The festival which ran for 4 days was in aid of Crisis – the national charity for single homeless people. It was great to see one of our local churches supporting such a good cause and as I left to the sound of carol singers outside the church I felt decidedly more Christmassy.
